Beautiful Losers
Beautiful Losers is is the first museum survey that explores the recent work of a diverse group of visual artists that have emerged from the subcultures of skateboarding, graffiti, punk, and hip hop. Their works showcase a variety of media: painting, sculpture, and photography, as well as film, video, performance, and product design. Beautiful Losers is a retrospective celebration of this spirit, with hundreds of artworks by over three dozen artists, from precursors like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Raymond Pettibon, Keith Haring, Futura, Craig Stecyk to more recent adherents Phil Frost, Ed Templeton, Ryan McGinness, KAWS and Geoff McFetridge.
The exhibition is organized by Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, and the Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati. Sartoria Comunicazione helped raise funds for the US exhibitions and produced the European premiere at Milano Triennale.
